Farmsteads in Dale

The beautiful rural district of Dale (pronounced ‘Dah-leh’) is situated north of the village of Aalten and south of Barlo, extending from Lintelo in the west to Bredevoort and de Haart in the east.

Dale means ‘depression’ or ‘lowland’. The rural district lies at the foot of the western slope of the East Netherlands Plateau. This part of the plateau is an ancient river terrace from the Lower and Middle Pleistocene with a clearly visible terrace edge. On the slope, former meltwater valleys are now present as dry valleys.
